We caught up with Harriet Speed, recent graduate of Rycotewood Furniture, at the third year Furniture Design & Make students’ end-of-year show ‘Branching Out’ at Heal’s on Tottenham Court Road. Harriet also runs This Girl Makes, a blog that celebrates women in craft and design.
Jonas Lencer is a director of Stirling Prize winning architecture practice dRMM. He oversees the design, construction and delivery of major projects including Faraday House; a bold and imaginative residential building within the Battersea Power Station development. With a focus on prefabrication and engineered timber, he specialises in combining design concepts with innovative construction techniques. Jonas lectures internationally on dRMM’s pioneering work in engineered timber, he is an assessor for the University of Brighton and is currently on the Wood Awards judging panel.
Kate Watson-Smyth is an interiors journalist, blogger, author and runs an interior design consultancy. Kate’s award winning blog, Mad About The House, documents her interior inspiration and insights including our own Makers for Selfridges project. Kate has expanded her blog with a book of the same name, sharing her knowledge on how to confidently decorate your home. She has also been writing for the national press, including the Independent and Financial Times, for over 15 years, whilst her house is often featured in the likes of Living ETC and The Wall Street Journal.
